way̓ (hello) everyone,

WOW! It's been a minute since I updated you all last. Life has a way of catching up with you and I have just been so busy! With returning to work from maternity leave, changing jobs, finishing another year of school, house stuff and other life I haven't had a chance to sit down and do an update.... until now. Well, we are so close to possession, we can taste it. If you've been following along on this journey, thank you. I can't wait to share pictures of the finished spaces afterwards too.

Since our vacation in February to Hawaii, lots has happened at the house! I will walk you through the updates here:

We came home from Hawaii in February to a roof & windows!

My dad's dog, Keke, got a doggy roof too ;)

Shortly after that, the hardy board siding was put on. It is color: Light Mist & the wooden posts out front and under our covered porch got installed:

On the inside, they did the insulation & drywall. This stage was really exciting as it started to take shape and the spaces became more defined. We could get an idea of what the spaces were going to look like:

Once the drywall was complete, the painting began. We painted the whole house a very light grey. Our poplar "faux" beam got installed. After that, the cabinets and flooring began to get installed:

Now we are just waiting for: electrical (outlets and lighting to be installed), plumbing, landscaping (paving of the back patio, front patio), some grass ect and a bit more tile work to be completed. We are SO CLOSE.

Keep you all updated! I plan to do a room by room more detailed post as well on the products we chose.

Thanks for following along!

Hello everyone,

Thank you all for following along on our journey. This is my update for January 2022 :)

The walls are up and it is officially starting to look like a house. It has been fun to watch the transformation and finally be able to envision what the space is going to look like for real and not on a piece of paper. The second floor walls are almost all up as well, there are a few going to be completed next week and then all of the house walls will be completed.

We are heading to Hawaii this weekend and will be coming home to a huge transformation. The roof and windows/doors are supposed to be going on while we are away. Can't wait to see that. Last week the crane was here and lifted up our living room walls (18ft tall!). Just a short update for you all this time around. Definitely more to share in the next few weeks. Stay tuned!

Hi again everyone. We are officially one month into our home build and what an adventure it has been so far to say the least! Follow along below for my update so far.

November 8, 2021:

We officially broke ground. My nephew Jack had a blast watching the "big machine dig nanties house". I set him up a station in the bedroom window so he could watch and also we spent some time sitting in the lawn chairs outside watching. See the pictures from the first few days.

November 15, 2021:

The excavator accidentally hit the gas line which triggered some excitement in the neighborhood. A couple of fire trucks, the WFN crew, the Fortis BC crew, ect ect lol. They had to close the road for awhile while they fixed the break. While the crew worked to fix this a HUGE rainstorm blew threw.

We got back on track and then we ended up discovering that the water main line was not even close to where it was supposed to be located and instead of it being on the easement of our property (by the sidewalk), it was actually quite a ways into our property line. We had to have the crews onsite to sort that out and luckily we ended up being able to just adjust the easement and continue with construction. And then it snowed. Luckily this time, it didn't last too long.

November 23, 2021- December 4, 2021: The foundation was prepped, poured and completed.

December 21, 2021: The flooring joists are on.

January 4, 2022: The walls are beginning to go up and it is officially starting to look like a house!

That is all of the updates that we have for now. The framers are working on another job this week and will hopefully be back at our place (and the second floor will hopefully arrive in a week).

And lastly, we would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year. Wishing you all health and happiness for 2022 and thanks again for following along on our building journey!
