Today is a day we have long awaited. 2.5 ish years to be exact! When we first threw out the idea of building a house, we never expected it would all take this long before even breaking ground.
To provide some background and show just why we are so thrilled to be where we are at today, I will go over the steps it took to get here below.

Engineering Brief
Choose a Builder. We are using Kelowna Home Builders (KHB) (https://www.kelownahomebuilders.ca/)
Get a house plan made. Because the shape of our lot is so specific (pie shape) and this is going to be our home for a very long time, we decided to get a custom home plan made. We wanted to make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted and would work for our family. Before we saw an architect and designer, we downloaded the MagicPlan App (https://www.magicplan.app/) and played around on it to create an idea of what we wanted. We took this to Mullins Drafting & Design (https://mullinshomedesigns.ca/) and they worked with us to make some adjustments and create a plan that we are very happy with.
Land was officially subdivided and sent off to the Goverment of Canada to be officially registered in the land registry. This was estimated to take between 6-8 weeks "due to COVID" and it ended up taking around 15-20 weeks instead.

Begin Building
I am sure I am missing steps too since it is hard to remember everything now. In between each of these steps, there was also many, MANY emails and phone calls as well as many delays due to COVID 19. Needless to say, ALOT of paperwork and money goes into the project behind the scenes before anything with the lot actually happens. That all leads us to where we finally are today, excavation. The surveyors were here on Friday staking out our house layout and today they officially begin digging the hole.
